
A year back in 2020 when the pandemic hit and all our lives came to a halt I decided to take a journey to fitness which I had tried previous years and failed. As I began this journey I promised myself that this year it would be different. I didn’t have much motivation but I decided to take it one day at a time. When I began this journey all that was in my mind was to lose weight and have the body I had always desired . I spent so many days watching YouTube videos on how to lose weight and it almost became an obsession. I would wake up and do my workout just randomly I didn’t have any knowledge about fitness , I made mistakes that I can a sure you. A month passed by quickly and not much had changed but ,I encouraged myself not to give up and I kept on going.
This time I worked harder than before, since I didn’t have someone to guide me I still made mistakes but I learnt through them .I made sure I used them as lessons and not view myself as a failure. I believe that’s how life should be learning from our mistakes and not viewing ourselves as failures. I decided to change my mentality instead of working towards seeing big changes I would start to appreciate the small changes I would see. Progress over perfection mentality.
The more I continued working out my mental health completely changed . I noticed after working out I would feel so good and decided that is what would keep me going .I looked forward to waking up so that I would workout because of the feeling it gave me . Months passed by quickly and since my mindset had shifted I didn’t even realize getting the changes I desired . Not much but hey they were there and that is all that mattered.
It stopped being just physical and it was more of mental and emotional and more of how it made me feel. I started to notice that my mindset shifted, how I viewed exercises and that has help me to keep going upto today. I had to stop having excuses and understanding that there is more to exercise than just losing weight helped me to be discplined.
As am writing this today am a happy person because I achieved my goals and most of all I have a strong mindset . I am a fitness enthusiasts and I hope my story will inspire you to begin your journey today and grow through it. Accept the lessons that will come with it . If I can be told to define fitness today I would say it’s more than just physical appearance ,it makes you strong physically ,improves your mental health and helps you shift your mindset through discovering what you are capable of.
